Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Eco Scrub (“we”, “us”) handles personal information when you use our website, contact us, or enquire about cleaning services. We keep processing proportionate to running a local cleaning business and responding to customers.
Who we are
Eco Scrub provides domestic and commercial cleaning services in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, and surrounding areas.
For data-protection purposes we act as the data controller for personal information processed through this website.
Contact for privacy questions or requests: hello@ecoscrub.co.uk · Phone: 07491 291 202.
What personal data we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may process:
• Identity and contact details — such as your name, email address, and optional phone number when you submit our Contact form or Quote request form.
• Enquiry details — your message, preferred service type, postcode, preferred date (if provided), and any other information you choose to include about your property or booking.
• Technical data — basic information your browser sends automatically when you load pages (for example IP address and browser type). Our hosting and infrastructure providers may process this in server logs for security and reliability.
We do not ask you to create an account on this site and we do not intentionally collect special-category data (such as health information) through the forms.
How we use your information and legal bases
We use personal data only where UK GDPR allows. Typical purposes include:
• Responding to enquiries and quote requests — necessary for steps prior to a contract and/or our legitimate interests in operating the business (Article 6(1)(b) and/or (f)).
• Managing bookings and delivering services — performance of a contract where you become a customer (Article 6(1)(b)).
• Limited spam prevention — for example ignoring submissions triggered by hidden “honeypot” fields (legitimate interests in securing our forms).
• Keeping records of correspondence where appropriate — legitimate interests in evidencing agreements and handling disputes (Article 6(1)(f)), or legal obligation where applicable.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use automated decision-making that affects you.
Email delivery (forms)
When you submit the Contact or Quote form, your details are sent by email to our team using a transactional email provider (currently Resend). They process the content of the message on our instructions solely to deliver that email.
Your submission may be stored in our mailboxes and backups held by our email provider according to their retention settings. We configure forms so your address appears as the reply-to recipient where appropriate, making it easy for us to respond directly.
Cookies and similar technologies
We aim to keep cookies minimal. Operating this site may involve strictly necessary cookies or storage required for basic functionality and security (for example as part of how the web platform serves pages).
We do not currently run first-party advertising or analytics cookies on this site. If we add analytics or marketing tools later, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent before non-essential cookies are set.
Facebook content on our site
Our homepage may embed our public Facebook Page feed so visitors can see recent updates. Loading that embed can cause your browser to communicate with Meta Platforms (Facebook). Meta may set or read cookies and process data according to its own policies.
We do not control Meta’s processing; please review Facebook’s help and privacy resources if you want to understand how they use data when you interact with embedded content.
Sharing and international transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we put in place safeguards required under UK GDPR — for example adequacy regulations where they apply, the UK–US data bridge where relevant, or UK-approved standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep information
We retain enquiry emails and related correspondence for as long as needed to respond, administer bookings, meet legal or tax obligations, and resolve disputes — typically up to a few years unless a longer period is justified.
Server logs retained by infrastructure providers are governed by their policies and are usually rotated within shorter periods.
Security
We use reputable hosting and email providers and reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. No website transmission is completely immune from risk; if you have concerns about sending sensitive details through a form, contact us by phone instead.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you; to ask us to correct inaccurate data; to ask us to erase data in certain circumstances; to restrict or object to processing in certain circumstances; and to request portability of data you provided where processing is automated and based on consent or contract. You may withdraw consent where we rely on consent (not usually the primary basis for enquiry forms).
You can exercise these rights by emailing hello@ecoscrub.co.uk. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
If you are unhappy with how we handle personal data, you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to resolve concerns first.
Links and third-party sites
Our site may link to Facebook and other third-party websites. Their privacy notices apply when you leave our site; please review them separately.
Children
This website is aimed at adults seeking cleaning services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example if our services, providers, or legal requirements change. The “last updated” expectation is that you check this page periodically; substantive changes will be reflected here.
